Third Party Reproduction Evaluations
As part of the process for egg donors, egg recipients, sperm recipients, gestational carriers, and intended parents of gestational carriers a psychological screening must be completed.
For Intended Parents: The evaluation will involve an extensive interview that focuses on your emotional well-being and response to fertility struggles. A brief life history will also be taken. The evaluation for recipients and intended parents generally takes about 90 - 120 minutes. If you are married or partnered, both individuals must attend this appointment.
Donors and gestational carriers will also undergo an interview with additional information gathered about motivation to participate in the process, etc. The donor or gestational carrier will also complete a standardized paper & pencil personality inventory which will help determine the appropriateness for participation in the process. The length of the evaluation is about 2 hours. The spouse/partner will only need to attend the first 60 minutes of the appointment.
Following the evaluation (typically within about one week), a written report will be sent to the referring physician to be included in your medical record.
Health insurance often does not cover this type of evaluation. Essential Neuropsychology Consultants is happy to offer a reasonable fee schedule, as we are aware that the costs of third party reproduction accumulate quickly and can become prohibitive for additional attempts.
